Project Flytica

The flying experience is often convoluted and extremely stressful. Navigating complicated terminal layouts and dealing with delays, gate swaps, and cancellations all elevate the level of stress and complications. The information technology systems used and operated within the airline industry are often convoluted and complicated—performance inefficiencies and poor user experiences. Project Flyica aims to alleviate some of this stress, offering guidance and accurate information to travelling passengers from the curb-side to the gate. Our goal is to design and build modern and efficient flight-tracking platforms to reduce the stress and complicated nature of commercial aviation.

The core of Project Flytica revolves around accurate industry information regarding flight & aircraft status, wait times, traffic en route to the terminal, and any potential complications that may impact your journey. Project Flytica is designed and built with a “user-first” principle, focusing on ensuring that the end user’s experience is straightforward and intuitive.

When analyzing and developing the initial plans for this project, we looked at first-party airline applications. While these airlines apps are ofen lacking in functionality, they offer features that third-party developers cannot offer.

  • Managing Reservations
  • Making Reservations
  • Customer Service

Other third-party applications offer extremely powerful tracking features and provide information beyond what is available within first-party applications. However, many of these third-party applications are geared towards the experienced ” aviation geek” or frequent traveller. They often offer too much information and data that may be overwhelming to general users.

Project Flytica is intended to be built against the cloud, taking advantage of various cloud-native functionalities to provide a dynamic experience to our users. Also offering web, and mobile applications for cross platform support. For mobile applications, we intend to leverage various platform-specific features, including iMessage support on iOS.

This project is a work in progress.
